Sub Bottom Profilers

GeoAcoustics 2D Profiling Systems

GeoAcoustics 3D Profiling System

GeoChirp II

GeoChirp II is a sub-bottom profiling system for high resolution shallow geophysics, combining state of the art electronics with standard proven technology.  The "chirp" concept uses advanced frequency modulation and digital signal processing techniques to attain good penetration of the sub-bottom layers whilst achieving higher resolution records than previously possible.

GeoChirp II offers even higher resolution than the GeoPulse Profiler, at the expense of some reduction in overall penetration.  GeoChirp II is particularly effective in the near surface layers where the Chirp technique eliminates ringing; this feature makes it ideal for use on pipeline and cable route surveys.

GeoPulse Profiler & Pipeliner

The GeoPulse Sub-bottom Profiler is a tried and tested, industry standard sub-bottom profiling system for shallow geophysics. It is highly flexible allowing operation as either a hull mounted deep water system, an "over-the side mount" system for small boat operations or as a towed system.

The GeoPulse Pipeliner is a specialised variant of the GeoPulse Profiler designed to provide a solution to the problem of detecting buried pipelines.  It includes added flexibility to allow users to select from a wider choice of frequencies.  The towfish transducer layout is configured to give the perfect acoustic “footprint” for pipe detection.

GeoChirp 3D

GeoChirp 3-D is the first commercially available system capable of generating high resolution true 3-D sub bottom data volumes for shallow water applications.  Unlike pseudo 3-D systems, which use multiple 2-D slices of data and interpolation, the true 3-D system offers decimetre resolution in all three dimensions down to depths below sea bed of several tens of metres.

GeoChirp 3-D is the result of collaborative research between the National Oceanographic Centre (NOC) in Southampton and GeoAcoustics Ltd.  The system is based around the GeoChirp II Profiling System transmitter and transducers, and uses a 2-D grid of receive elements fitted to a lightweight surface towed array.
